Dear Hiring Manager

Sub: Application for General - Government Jobs

Ref: Nil

I introduce myself as a candidate for the General - Government Jobs

My background includes 8 years of success as a Forester in the Department of Forests and Wildlife in the state of Kerala. I offer particular expertise in the sector, with in-depth prowess in computer skills.

The total forest area in the state of Kerala is 10,336 sq.km. forming 26.6% of the total geographic area and per capita forest area is 0.04 ha. The forests of Kerala lie on the Western slope of the Western Ghats at different altitudes rising up to 2,694 metres. The steep and often abrupt topography creates great special variations in climate and soil, resulting in high levels of biodiversity and local endemism. The diverse physical environment of Kerala provides a diversity of habitat, each supporting an assemblage of life forms with distinct biological values. The state possesses extensive areas of Tropical Rain Forests (1937 sq. km.), Tropical Semi-Evergreen Forests (1,543 sq. km.) and Tropical Moist-deciduous Forests (4,100 sq.km.) and they are repositories of abundant and valuable biodiversity.

Protection of the allotted forest area (Section) from theft and forest fire is the primary duty of a Forester. The other duties include the complete inspection of the following works viz. Preparation of nursery, Planting seedlings, Manuring, Thinning in the appropriate cycles, Final felling; contour trenching, Gully plugging, Identification of Forest Wood and Trees, Surveying, Preparation of surveyed sketches; Prevention of the illegal activities viz. Poaching, Theft of forest produce, Brewing, Cannabis cultivation, Encroachment etc Implementation of the forest laws; Cognizance of forest offence, Nab the accused, Produce them before the honorable courts seize the government Materials and Be the Government witness during trials; Investigation and charging the cases authorized by the higher officers; And implementation of orders from the superior officers.

Training: 1. Forester Training (38th Batch of Foresters) from Kerala Forest School, Walayar, Kerala from April 07, 2001 to April 08, 2002

Training: 2. Forest Guards Training (36th Batch of Forest Guards) from Kerala Forest School, Arippa, Kerala from June 28, 1999 to January 05, 2000

And the subjects for Forester Training include Forest Management; Forest Engineering and the above cited subjects of Forest Guard in depth.

Forest station is the primary unit of protection of the allotted forest and inhibited areas. The station head is the Deputy Ranger. Two to four Foresters may be allotted to the station. The Forester responsible for the particular section is called the Section Forester of that section. Each section may be divided into two beats and Forest Guards are responsible for the beats. The area of forester consists of both forest and non forest area. The area of a Forester may be ranging from five to thirty square Kilo Meters. I have also worked in the Central Nursery at Chettikkulam from April 09, 2002 to May 22, 2003. This Nursery provides seedlings to almost 1/3 of the plantations in the Department. The root trainer containers are also used for the seedlings. The pretreated seeds are to be dibbled in the root trainer containers in the pre germination period and after attaining a height of one meter, these seedlings can be transported to the planting sites. The root trainer seedlings of Tectona grandis, Acacia mangium, Acacia auriculiformis and Eucalyptus tereticornis are widely produced among the species diversity up to fifty in the Nursery. Recently, I have also completed final felling operation in a 1953 Teak Plantation (23.75 Ha) along with planting operation and post planting activities. 1730 M3 timber and 80.85 MT fire wood were extracted from 10781 logs of 4980 trees including 4883 Teak (Tectona grandis).

I have also led the team at several times to nab the culprits of various types of forest cases and they were taken before the honorable Courts. I was included in the team for two times to destroy the Cannabis sativa in the remote forest areas of Kerala.

I have maintained a very good relationship with the tribal people and helped a tribal committee of the participatory forest management since its inception and upto a period of three months.

Besides, I would like to add that I do not feel hesitation to work in the remote areas as I have worked and stayed in the midst of evergreen forests viz. Anakkulam Forest Station, Mukkampuzha Forest Station etc. in Kerala.

I have also worked as the Manager of a liquor shop from 1984 to 1996 as permanent trade union employee under the contractors of each financial year in Chalakudy, Kerala State.

I offer my 10 years service experience in the Department of Forest and Wildlife, Government of Kerala, India to consider me for the post. I declare that I shall meet the challenges of the post with high sense of responsibility, honesty, dignity and perfection.

It will be an honor, if you would invite me to the interview at the earliest.

Thanking you

Sincerely

(BHASI BAHULEYAN)
